Variation

Everyone looks and act differently. This is called variation. We all show variation because our genes are all different. Humans, plants and animals all show variation. Plants can come in different colours, shapes, sizes and lengths. Animals can come in a variety of species, each one showing variation. Dogs come in different colours and sizes.

Continuous variation can vary over a wide range of options. Height and shoe size are examples of continuous variation. Discontinuous variation only has a few distinct options. Eye colour and blood groups are examples of disconinuous variation. There are factors which can change your appearance and variation. Enviromental factors are factors that you can change such as hair length and intelligence. Inherited factors are factors that you can't change such as eye colour which you have inherited from your parents.
