Planets are big balls or rock, ice and dust that orbit a star. Earth is a plent which orbits the sun. There are eight planets which orbit the sun. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are all located in our solar system and all orbit the same sun. Saturn has a large ring made up of dust and rocks. This is most likly where another planet or a moon exploded and Saturn's gravitation pull attracted the debris. Jupiture, Uranus and Neptune all have small rings. Some planets have an atmosphere like we do whereas others like Mercury do not.
