A balanced diet consists of 7 things:
Carbohydrates: Starch contained in bread and potatoes is used for energy
Proteins: Proteins found in meat and fish are used for building cells
Lipids: Fat contained in butter and cream is used for energy
Vitamins: Vitamins found in fruit and veg are used for vitial processes such as eye sight and keeping a healthy immune system
Minerals: Minerals such as iron and calcium are used for healthy blood, teeth and bones
Fibre: Fibre found in cereals and wholemeal is used for the digestive system
Water: 75% of your body is water. It is vital for chemical reactions
