Metal Extraction
Metals can be found deep underground. The closer they are to the surface, the less reactive they are. Gold, solver and copper are all found in the crust and can be extracted just by digging. However metals further down in the mantle are usually found as compounds, in big rocks called ores. Lesss reactive metals such as zinc and iron can be extracted from ores using carbon. However very reactive metals such as potasium and sodum, which are found near the core have to be extracted through electrolysis, which consists of breaking up the ore using electrons
