Food Chains and Food Webs
Food Chains:
Food chains show what is being eaten by what. They run in a straight line with one animal being eaten by one other. The arrows show what eats what and the flow of energy.
Food Webs:
Food webs are slightly more complicated. It is a network of animals and arrows, with the arrows once again displaying who eats who and the energy flow. The bottom of the web is the producer, usually a plant. Then the next row are the primary consumers, followed by the secondary consumers and so on. At the top of the web is the top carnivor because it is not eaten by anything else.
