Colour

White light is a mixture of colours. When white light hits a prism or a rain drop, the light splits up. The order the colours come out in is: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The three primary colours of light are red, blue and green. The frequency of light is the number of complete waves that pass a point per second. Red has a low frequency but violet's is high.

Filters only let through their colour. This is because they absorb all of the others. So a red filter aborbs all of the colours from orange - violet, but lets through red. Coloured ibjects only reflect their colour and absorb all of the others. So a green book willreflect green but absorb everything else. A black object absorbs all colours and a white object reflects all colours. Coloured objects appear differently in coloured light. This is because it may not have any colour to absorb. A blue yoyo would look blue in white because it only reflect blue. But in red light, it would look black because it has no blue to reflect and absorbs the red.
